PTFE is a partially crystalline thermoplastic with excellent chemical and thermal resistance. PTFE is the most corrosion resistant of all plastics and can be used in almost all sealing applications. The ability of PTFE to resist liquid alkali metals, elemental fluorine and certain halogenated compounds is somewhat deficient.

Application field 
The PTFE O-Ring is suitable for applications where ordinary synthetic rubber O-rings are not applicable and require chemical resistance and heat resistance. This seal is mainly used in the chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries. PTFE O-rings are only suitable for static seals such as flanged seals, end cap seals, etc.

Properties PTFE are not altered by aging and exposure to sunlight and ozone, and their water absorption is less than 0.01%.
Design suggestion
PTFE seals are less flexible, so they should match the nominal diameter of the (piston or bore) when selecting the size. Axial mounting is easier, and split mounting is recommended for radial mounting
